Police in Ruiru are pursuing a gang of about four men who shot dead a man in his vehicle on Saturday evening near the Ruiru Power Station.
According to an eye witness who sought anonymity, the 6 PM incident occurred when a white Pro-box came from behind and one of the men in it shot the victim through the driver's window of his (victim's) Prado. The Probox then sped off along the Thika Superhighway.
“I was just sitting near the power station gate across the road when the white Probox on high speed drove and without stopping a man withdrew a pistol from the front seat and shot at the man driving a Prado. I noticed four men in the vehicle,” he said.
Confirming the incident, Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that the police have launched investigations into the criminal act which he says was well planned and executed by high profile killers as they aimed correctly.
“We heard gun shots from the police station and also received calls from the public. We have noted that the men had planned as they shot him on the head and left him dead, a clear indication that they had only one motive. The motive to kill,” Thuranira said.
The OCPD further expressed his concerns over the increasing criminal activities in Ruiru Sub-county, saying that the residents have been hesitant of exercising the Nyumba Kumi and Community policing initiatives which, according to him, are the only solutions to the end of insecurity.
