Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira has asked youth to support police in the war against crime.

Speaking during the Ruiru Cultural Day in Ruiru on Wednesday, Mr Thuranira said young people can help curb crime by reporting their colleagues who could be engaging in criminal acts.

Mr Thuranira intimated that security of the area will be streamlined if young people and all residents support the police in their security efforts.

Mr Thuranira said young people constitute the largest part of the population and that their support especially in sensitising elderly residents on security initiatives like Nyumba Kumi will help boost security.

The OCPD on the same note cautioned youth against taking part in criminal activities.

Mr Thuranira said police will not hesitate to arrest youth engaging in crime.

The OCPD asked youth to use talents and take part in activities that will boost their lives.

“We are advising youth to shun crime and other lawless activities and instead utilise the various talents they have for their betterment,” he said.

Mr Thuranira said law enforcers have put in place proper mechanisms to ensure security of resident’s this festive season.

He said police patrols will be conducted across Ruiru and urged residents to cooperate with the police.

Meanwhile, Thuranira has asked chiefs in Ruiru to be on alert and take appropriate action against people who might engage in illicit brewing.

He said that there are reports of illicit brews resurfacing in some parts adding that chiefs whose areas will be found to be tolerating brews will be dealt with according to the law.

Speaking at the same event, Kiambu The National Alliance party coordinator Gladys Chania urged law enforcers to intensify security across the county during this festive season.
