Ruiru Member of Parliament Esther Gathogo has asked the area youths in her Constituency to be ambassadors of peace and help reach unity.

Speaking in Ruiru town on Thursday, Gathogo challenged the youths to spread messages of peace and unity among locals. She added that unity and peace is needed if development is to be realised in the area.

“Youths should come out and take the initiative of preaching peace and learn to work as a team for the good of our Constituency,” urged Gathogo.

She noted that youths can use the social media platform to spread unity instead of using it to cause disharmony as many do whenever they are on social media.

She noted that social media platforms can be used to promote cohesion adding that it is the responsibility of every citizen to preach peace and co-exist as brothers and sisters.

The MP asked Kiambu County government to start campaigns that will foster peace and development among the county residents.

She stated that people, especially at the grass roots need to be sensitised on matters peace as one way of ending some misunderstandings, perceived tension and constant wrangles among Kiambu people.

Gathogo asked Kiambu leaders to take the lead and preach unity adding that as leaders, they should refrain from comments that would disrupt peace.

“Leaders should stop using language that would cause disharmony among people,” advised Gathogo.

She said that she is committed to ensuring that residents benefit and get access to basic services. She urged Ruiru locals to support her achieve development projects she has initiated in the area that will promote their lives.
