The National Police Service has issued a press statement offering clear guidelines Cord supporters should adhere to should they decide to resume their protests.

The service advised the coalition to provide as soon as possible the following information to the police commander of the respective county where the demos will be held:

   1) The time the demonstrations will start and end, including the specific routes

   2) Approximate number of demonstrators

   3) The expected destination and the avenue of public meetings, if any and:

   4) Expected exit route(s) to be used after the demonstrations

In addition, the coalition has been requested to ensure the demonstrators don't engage in any form of violence, and damage of property (whether private or public).

The coalition should also ensure demonstrators don't harass road users, both motorists and pedestrians.

The police also noted that they will endeavour to ensure heightened security and have warned that attacks against any police officer/government facility will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

"We wish also to reiterate that the police will deal firmly with breaches of any law perpetrated by any person immediately before, during as well as after the demonstrations in any town in accordance with the law," read the statement.
