Kisii Women Representative Mary Otara now wants nominated senator Janet Ong'era to challenge Homabay counterpart Gladys wanga because she's married in the lakeside county.
Otara is facing a major threat from the former ODM Chief Executive, who has though, not declared her intentions publicly.
The two are close allies of ODM leader Raila Odinga and could face each other in the party's primaries should Ong'era launch her bid any time soon.
"I am committed to improve the livelihoods of my people and I am really disappointed that someone is busy fighting me from within. We should have mutual respect even in politics," she told her supporters in Suneka.
"She should go to Homabay and fight wanga instead of directing her energy towards me. I am confident that I will still beat her," she said without making direct reference to Ong'era.
Sources close to Ong'era indicate that she has settled on Women Representative position after serving as nominated ODM senator in the 11th parliament.
