The chairperson of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA), Cecil Mbarire, has accused ODM party leader Raila Odinga, of looking down on women.

This follows a disciplinary action by the relevant ODM commitee, that saw Nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro, barred from vying as the Ruaraka MP in the party.

Ongoro was also fined Sh1 million after being found guilty using goons to attack ODM Executive Director, Oduor Ong'wen, over party ticket.

According to Mbarire, this was a plot by Raila, to lock out Ongoro from ODM.

She asked her to stay away from Raila, or face another 'humiliation', since he 'does not' want to see women in leadership.

"I want to tell my sister Ongoro, if you see Raila anywhere, run, run away from him. Run away so fast wihout looking back,'' she said, Monday.

Speaking in Embu, the Runyenjes MP added: "He does not want to see women become leaders. He should have supported Ongoro because she has been supporting him all through.''

The two shared a podium with National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, who asked women to seek elective seats in large numbers, in the August 8, polls.
