Acting chief magistrate Justin Onyiego heard that the man identified as Boniface Juma Kimani abducted the child on his way to school on the fateful morning, picking him from other children.

It is understood that Kimani was in a car with three other assailants when he lured the child to go with him since the child was a nephew.

Kimani called the child’s mother and demanded a ransom worth Sh5 million and asked for cooperation so that things would go smoothly without the involvement of the police and the child would be unharmed.

The child’s mother gave a statement to the police after which she engaged the accused in a 45 minutes talk that enabled the police to track down the assailant which showed the call was from Kamiti GK Prison.

The child’s mother further proceeded to the criminal investigation department and gave out the information to different radio stations, where a pastor in Murang’a County Kigumo area called the police with the information of a child where they proceeded to a nearby neglected farm house and found the child crying.

The accused denied the charges claiming that his wife, Mary Muthoni, gave him the child promising to come back which she didn’t.

The court concluded the accused had the intention of obtaining money illegally through inhumane ways.

Through the evidence and testimonies in court, Justice Onyiego jailed the accused for five years and fourteen months of hard labour.
