A rural area based school shocked parents when it emerged victorious in Yatta Constituency, Machakos county in the KCPE results with the top pupil- a girl, having scored 426 marks.
The Ikombe day and boarding public primary school in the remote area of Yatta constituency produced 33 pupils with over 400 marks out of 111 candidates who sat for the KCPE examination.
The school’s headteacher Boniface Mbondo, was overjoyed with how his camp performed.
“This amazing performance is attributable to the secret of teamwork and determination, to full co-operation between parents, pupils and teachers especially the teaching staff’s hard work as well as the commitment by the pupils who never misused their time in school.” Said the headteacher.
As the parents, teachers and the pupils celebrated the victory, one of the top candidates Mutisya Mutua, shocked her mother and the entire team in the school when he said will choose his future career after school to be a priest something which did not please his mother Patricia Michael, who visibly got disappointed and wished that her son would grow to become a doctor after his studies.
