Parents in Kibera are now having a tough time shopping since form ones are expected to join secondary school this coming week.
The parents are saying their children might not go with all necessities as they did not receive their January salaries in time hence, they could not shop fully. Others say they had a little money and the necessities were too expensive.
''I had the money but because the prices of whatever was needed were still high, I decided to wait for some few more weeks. The prices have now reduced but now time is limited,'' said Anne Wanja, one of the parents.
Another parent, Phyllis Reuben, said she delayed shopping because she had not received her January salary.
''I would have already shopped by now but there was no money .I had to wait until my boss paid my salary,'' she said.
Some of the parents like, Moses Ogidi, say they are having sleepless nights since the money they have is just not enough even after being paid.
''My income is low. The requirement needed by the school is a big load for me but I believe God will help me work out things. It is not easy but after all, I know my boy will join secondary school next week,'' said Ogidi.
