With just a week left to the closure of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) application exercises for interested gubernatorial candidates, only three people have picked and dropped their nomination papers.
The Orange party had issued a month long notice to have interested candidates in various positions to apply ahead of February-March 2017 nominations.
According to the list seen by the reporter, Dr. John Kumenda, retired judge Anasi Onyancha and Nyamira Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo are the only candidates who have complied with the timeline.
However, neither ODM Nyamira County Chairman James Gesami nor incumbent Governor John Nyagarama has returned the papers.
The two are on pole possession to win the ticket and they have clashed in several public events before.
Political showdown between the two is also expected to take centre stage when opposition leader Raila Odinga visits the region on December 2nd for a youth summit dubbed Kikao 046.
