Kisumu County Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has rubbished claims that she is using the Nominated MCAs to undermine Governor Jack Ranguma and the elected MCAs.
Odinga told our reporter on phone that the elected MCAs complaining about her relationship with the women leaders of the county should face her instead of accusing her behind her back.
She said that she has launched a Kisumu women leaders’ network aimed at empowering the women leaders and encouraging women in the society to rise up and take up the leadership positions in the county which had been dominated by men.
“I only meet the women MCAs during our women leaders meeting and not to undermine the governor or any other leader.
My role as the top most women leader in Kisumu is to empower my fellow women leaders and also to encourage other women not to shy away from taking up the leadership positions, “said Odinga.
In July, Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma launched the Kisumu Women Caucus which was attended by Women Representative Rose Nyamunga, Kisumu Nominated TNA Senator Joy Gwendo, ODM Deputy Organizing Secretary Rosa Buyu, women MCAs among other women at the Tom Mboya Labour College.
The Deputy Governor asked her critics to concentrate on their roles and affirmed that she is working closely with her governor to ensure that they deliver to Kisumu residents.
