Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has reiterated that she is vying for the county’s top job in 2017.
She however stated that until the right time reaches, she will perform her role as the deputy governor of Kisumu County and work together with Governor Jack Ranguma to deliver services to the people of Kisumu.
“I will not play second fiddle to anyone this time and am going to throw myself in the Kisumu gubernatorial contest when that time comes,” said Ms Odinga.
She told those seeking the seat to stop engaging in early campaigns as that is affecting service delivery to the people.
He gave example of Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o and Nyando MP Fred Outa who have already declared interest in the gubernatorial and Senatorial seat respectively.
“At what point does Nyong’o oversight the county government or fight for more resources if he is busy engaging in early campaigns. At what point does Outa oversight the national government when he is always in the county campaigning,” said Ms Odinga.
She said there are still many gaps that leaders needed to fill when it comes to playing their role and not campaigns.
“I want to ensure that I am voted in because of the development record and that is why currently am supervising all the development projects to ensure they do not end up being white elephants,” said Ms Odinga.
