Kisumu Deputy governor Ruth Odinga now claims she was not consulted over the sacking of city manager Doris Ombara.
Ms Odinga claimed her boss, Governor Jack Ranguma, did not hint to her the decision to sack Ombara who she claimed had done a lot to maintain order in the city of Kisumu.
“We were with the governor in the morning and even went to the funeral service of the children who were killed in an accident at Awasi, but he never shared the same and just heard the matter through people,” said Ms Odinga.
She did not understand under what circumstances Ombara, who she termed hard working, had been sacked, but said she will get more information over the same to make a clear statement on the matter.
Ombara has been complaining that critical services in the city of Kisumu have been hampered for the past four months following starvation of funds by the county government.
Kisumu City could not pay for electricity, water supply and garbage collection for lack of funds.
It forced her to write to the county assembly and copied to the office of the county executive committee (CEC) member for finance and the county secretary protesting how her office has been starved of cash.
The county has not been able to transfer to the city recurrent and development funds that were allocated in the 2015/2016 budget.
