The Special Programme and Disaster Management Department, on Saturday received food donations for victims of floods in Kisumu county from East Africa Sea Food company.

While receiving the donations from the General manager Mr Sebastian Xavier, The Governor's Snr. Advisor on Special programme and Disaster Management Madam Ruth Odinga, noted that the contribution will go along way in saving lives of those affected by the on going floods that have ravaged parts of Kisumu county. 

She called on more well wishers and stakeholders to join in and help in the mobilisation of resources to support the affected families, adding that with the continuing rains, and rivers breaking their banks, it will be difficult for the county government to sustain the number of people in the evacuation centres without the help of other partners.

According to reports from the Red Cross, over 4000 households across the county will be affected by the flush floods if the heavy rains continue.

So far, over 1,000 families are in the evacuation centres.

The items donated by East Africa Sea Food Ltd included 34 bales of maize flour, 200Kgs of rice,1 sack of beans, 150Kgs of sugar, 120 litres of cooking oil and tea leaves.
