Kisumu County's head of Special Programmes Ruth Odinga visited Mixa Farm in Nyamasaria on Wednesday.Accompanied by her department's team, Odinga inspected various farming activities at the farm. The farming activities being carried out in the farm include cricket rearing and production of crickets, fruit rearing and production, zero grazing and production of dairy products, and manufacturing of farm machines such as flour miller and hatcheries. The farm manager confirmed that the only challenge they faced was limited resources to produce more, especially for the crickets, as there exists a ready market for the consumable insects. The manager said he only has 100 farmers supplying him with the insects, adding that he is looking for 100 more to achieve his export target.Odinga, who is the senior adviser to Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyongo on matters Special Programmes and Disaster Management, pledged to boost the farm."We will boost the farm by empowering them through linkages that exist in the Ministry of Trade like Enterprise and Cooperative departments," said Odinga. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kisumu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
