DP William Ruto has expressed confidence that opposition threats against the repeat presidential elections are baseless and minor considerations. [Photo/Citizen TV]Deputy President William Ruto has told off opposition leader Raila Odinga over his affirmation that no elections would be held if IEBC fails to replace officials alleged to have facilitated manipulation of August election results.
The DP said on Monday that Kenyans had a right to choose the leaders they wanted and that no individual had the privilege to obstruct it.
"The right of every Kenyan to vote is not negotiable. We do not care...but we believe Kenyans will go to the polls."
He described Mr Odinga’s statement over IEBC as useless saying that the threat against the October 17 poll was void because Mr Odinga was just but “an impossible dream.”
"This man cannot be superior enough to hold the country at ransom by stopping an election. He is just an impossible dream," DP Ruto said.
Mr Ruto dared the former prime minister to engage political competitors instead of attacking IEBC officials.
The opposition leader has remained resolute that he will not be party to the repeat election if senior IEBC officials at the secretariat are not replaced.
He said the targeted officials bungled the August elections.
