Mukhwana while speaking during an interview on KTN News said Uhuru cannot negotiate with opposition leader Raila Odinga due to the pressure he receives from Ruto.

“Ruto feels that Uhuru’s backyard are seasonal betrayers and hence cannot allow Uhuru to negotiate with Raila,” he said.

“The two have a deal running till 2032 and negotiating with Raila will be deemed betrayal,’ Mukhwana reiterated.

In the run to 2013 general elections, Uhuru and Ruto had sealed a deal that was to see Uhuru serve for two terms then support Ruto in the 2022 general elections.

President Kenyatta had been called upon to negotiate with Raila but declined to do so claiming the opposition was after a coalition government.

Professor Herman Manyora has however rubbished Uhuru’s claims saying the mentality that talks between the government and opposition is about creation of a coalition government is due to the historic events in the country.

“In 2007, the post-election violence led to talks between President Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga but it is sad that talks are only carried out after loss of lives and destruction of property,” Manyora said.
