Deputy President William Ruto has called on churches to make use of social media in spreading the word of God.
Ruto urged churches not to fear technology but instead view it as a tool to reach as many people as possible.
"Social media is transforming societies and it will not be possible to shut because of its negative influence on the society. Churches should make use of the positive part of it for the benefit of its mission of preaching the gospel," said Ruto.
The DP was speaking during the official opening of the African Biblical ,leadership Initiative at the school of government in lower Kabete, Nairobi on Monday.
He added that churches should embrace technology especially if they want to reach out to young people because it is where most of them interact.
"The truth of the matter is that there is a big shift in how we interact , but we have to use the social media if we want to enable community for the sake of the mission of the church," added Ruto.
