Political analyst Gideon Mamboleo says Deputy President William Ruto is afraid of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s political rise.
The Orange Democratic Movement Party leader has been integral within the party following his ability to sponsor key party activities, making many pundits link him with 2022 presidential quest.
Ruto, who has also expressed his intentions to vie in 2022, on Sunday termed Joho an academic dwarf’ during is visit in the coastal region.
“I think the war between the two has nothing to do with ideologies. It is basically political since they are eyeing 2022 presidential polls. The DP is afraid of Joho and has started an early war with him,” Mamboleo said in a telephone conversation with the reporter.
Mamboleo added that the war between the two was likely to continue or a while since both have ‘equal’ chances of leading the country.
“Ruto has his chances so as Joho. We are likely to see more of that (war of words) from them. They have been in politics for a while and that is part of the game,” he said.
