Deputy President William Ruto has said people who believe in the rule of law which stipulates that every five years Kenyans elect leaders of their choice should let Kenyans exercise that right in the next year's polls without disenfranchising anyone.

The DP during an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday said the opposition was trying to use the negotiated electoral laws to deny Kenyans their constitutional right to vote adding that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission had seen gaps in the laws and had proposed the amendments.

"There was a negotiated document that went to Parliament and IEBC sat down to see how they would implement the law. The amendments on the floor of the National Assembly are not from Jubilee, it is an IEBC proposal," he said.

"You cannot tell Kenyans that because technology has failed you cannot vote," he added.

Ruto insisted that it would be foolish to see the gaps in the electoral laws that could lead to depriving some Kenyans their rights and just overlook them.

"Even though the laws were negotiated, by both Cord and Jubilee, it would be foolish to see gaps and not seal them," he said.
