Speaking at Kishenyi village in Taita Taveta County on Friday, the DP said the move will go a long a long way in turning the country into a 24-hour economy, as business operators will now be able to work until late into the night.

"The Last Mile connectivity programme is meant to better the lives of the people, especially those in rural areas by connecting their houses to electricity at a low cost and enabling them to use power for domestic, business and security purposes,” said Ruto.

Security will also be boosted as street lights will be installed in villages,” he added.

He reiterated the Jubilee government’s commitment to changing the lives of Kenyans.
