Deputy President William Ruto has labeled cattle rustlers as ‘stupid’ people and challenged security agencies to apprehend them.
This comes after fresh fight emerged between the Abagusii and Kipsigis communities along Nyamira-Kisii and Narok borders on Friday night in which eight people were critically injured.
Ruto who was touring Kisii region for the third time this month condemned the violence and insisted that Jubilee government will not allow ‘few crooks’ to destabilize peaceful coexistence among Kenyans.
“These people engaging in cattle rustling are stupid and cowards of the highest level that I have never seen. They are practicing primitive culture that doesn’t belong to this century. I wonder why police are hesitating to arrest and jail them,” he said.
“They belong to prison because this government cannot allow few crooks to destabilize peace in this country. We must live together as brothers and sisters. It’s my wish that they will learn to embrace peace,” he added.
He urged members of both communities to report the law breakers to the authorities for expeditious actions.
“I want to remind you that you also have a responsibility to report such people to authorities. Let us deal with the vice once and for all,” he said while addressing faithfuls at Nyabururu Parish.
