Politicians who ditched Opposition Cord for the Jubilee Party did so out of greed, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has said.
Ruto slammed governors who joined the Jubilee outfit, saying their move was backward.
“If you are a head of a county government, how do you defect? It is the most backward way of thinking an individual could ever imagine,” he said as quoted by the Star.
Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya and his Marsabit counterpart Ukur Yattani joined President Uhuru Kenyatta’s team from Cord and pledged to work with the government.
The outspoken governor who has been criticising the Jubilee administration said the party had poor leadership.
Ruto is also against the idea of the governors saying they will work with the national government.
“It’s not the business of a governor to support the national government, but rather, improve services for the people who elected him,” he said.
The Chama Cha Mashinani leader was elected on a URP ticket, one of the parties that folded to form the Jubilee Party.
