Deputy President William Ruto has called for peace as the country prepares for elections later in August.
Speaking on the new year's eve in Eldoret, the DP challenged Kenyans to uphold peace, stating that it was every citizen's responsibility to ensure peaceful co-existence.
"As we usher in 2017, we must remind ourselves that God has given us a great country. It is our responsibility to ensure that we preach peaceful co- existence and unity among Kenyans," said Ruto.
"We should embrace peace, tolerance and understanding, 2017 being an election year. I expect that Kenyans will renew the mandate of the Jubilee administration as we realize more transformation. I hope that Kenyans exercise their right to vote and that no matter the results, we put the country first," he added.
The Deputy President had attended the Pamoja Concert, a new year gospel celebration ceremony held at Eldoret Sports Club alongside his family.
