Nakuru County Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto has urged leaders in the county to shun negative criticising while calling for unity in order to achieve development goals in the region.

Speaking in Nakuru on Friday after a two-day civil society congress, Ruto defended his administration which has been on the receiving end from some leaders for alleged corruption.

"This is not the time to fight each other, but rather work together in delivering our services to the public as duly elected. My administration has been transparent in the way we spend money and therefore, reports of misappropriated amounts are nothing but false accusations," Ruto said.

The Nakuru deputy governor also stated that the accounts had been presented to the Senate and the cocal assembly for verification to clear any doubts on their expenditure.

"All the accounts had been presented before the Senate’s public accounts committee and that the county assembly and the two institutions have exhausted the matter," Ruto added.

Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua among governors in the country to have appeared before the Senate in recent weeks to answer queries concerning financial impropriety of their governments.
