Deputy President William Ruto has taken his campaign to Vihiga County Thursday as the Jubilee Party attempts to garner votes ahead of the October 17 repeat poll.
This follows a meeting at the State House in Nairobi between President Uhuru Kenyatta and several politicians from the western region.
Ruto's visit has been coordinated by Moses Akaranga and the deputy president is set to address a delegation of preachers at the PAG Church in Nyang’ori prior to a meeting with elders from different regions of the country.
Ironically, Vihiga is the home of National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principal Musalia Mudavad, however, the inclusion of Akaranga has added a new twist as the ruling party aims at garnering votes in the region.
“Nasa did not want me. They took me to court for using the Nasa logo. Even after the election held on August 8, they never bothered to engage me,” said Akarangaas quoted by the Daily Nation.
According to Akaranga he received a call from the Head of State and that is the reason why he is supporting his re-electoion.
“Nasa will realise that they made a mistake when they resorted to humiliating me. The president engaged former Meru Governor Peter Munya and he returned to Jubilee,” he added.
