Deputy President William Ruto's political fortunes could turn from bad to worse should he go ahead with his planned tour to Gusii region.
Ruto faced hostility in Narok, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia and at some point, he was forced to cancel a rally in Bungoma town after a group of rowdy youths barricaded Mumias-Bungoma highway.
And on Friday, former Kitutu Masaba MP had his speech periodically interrupted by hundreds on mourners in Moturumesi-Nyamira County when he broke news that the DP would tour the region on Sunday.
"Let us work together as a team and help cement Jubilee's support. Our DP will be here on Sunday," said Nyamira gubernatorial hopeful amid jeers.
The DP has made numerous trips to Gusii region since 2013 and has maintained that the community remains significant in Jubilee Party politics.
He is set to tour several places both in Nyamira and Kisii Counties on Sunday to rally residents to register as voters in the ongoing mass listing exercise.
