Kuresoi South Member of Parliament Zakayo Cheruiyot has criticized Deputy President William Ruto accusing him of insulting women in politics without any reason.
Cheruiyot has said that insults from the DP towards female politicians are demeaning yet they have major contributions within the society.
The lawmaker was responding to allegations made by Busia Women Representative Florence Mutua who accused Ruto of insulting her and at the same time interfering with her marriage.
"Insulting Florence Mutua's marriage is similar to insulting women of this nation. That is not allowed at all, the DP should be busy encouraging women to join politics instead of harassing them," said Cheruiyot.
The legislator who was speaking in Chemaner after a Sunday church service, also challenged women from Kuresoi South to vie for various political seats in the coming general election.
"In Kuresoi South, I highly promote gender equality. Women should vie for various seats without fear," he added.
