Deputy President William Ruto has earmarked Bungoma County as one of Jubilee's strongholds as the ruling party prepares for a bruising battle for the control of the vote-rich Western Kenya region with the Opposition.
Speaking on Wednesday during his tour of the region, Ruto told off NASA over the County, saying the residents were firmly in Jubilee.
The DP cited improved infrastructure in the area under the Jubilee adminstration as one of the key things that has swayed the Luhya vote.
“We want to tell our colleagues — those of parables — that we have taken over Bungoma courtesy of roads and electricity,” he said.
“We said we would revive Pan Paper and we’ve done it. Now they are busy asking for the old analogue smoke,” he added.
He further lashed out at the NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, accusing him of doing nothing for the region when he was Prime Minister.
“People of Western show me one project commissioned by Odinga in this region during his stint as Prime Minister. Next time he comes hear announcing football matches, stop him and tell him to bring projects,” Ruto noted.
Bungoma is the home County of NASA co-principal and Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula.
