Barely three hours after the National Super Alliance (NASA) principals signed an agreement that has brought the coalition into life, Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed the outfit as inconsequential.
Speaking during a political rally at Mariakani, Kilifi County, where he had gone to market Jubilee Party, Ruto claimed that the new kid on the block (NASA) has nothing new to offer to Kenyans.Ruto who spoke in his trademark comic style claimed that the coalition's top brass is only interested in how to share out leadership positions if they win the election.Keen to sway the region that is widely perceived as an ODM zone into the Jubilee Party bandwagon ahead of the August polls, the DP said that the current regime's development record in the area speaks for itself and that it's high time the region chose between development and 'cheap talk'.The DP was also quick to highlight the government's development record in the ODM-controlled county including the controversial Mzima 1 and 2 Water Projects which have in the recent past been a flashpoint of a war of words between the area Governor Amason Kingi and the central government. The rally was attended by Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro among a host of others leaders who defected from the opposition.
