Deputy President William Ruto did the unthinkable on Thursday during the National Prayer Breakfast at Safari Park Hotel while greeting veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga.
While his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, remained seated, DP Ruto rose to his feet while flashing a bright smile to greet his perceived political nemesis.
The gesture was a mind-blowing spectacle to behold given the fact that the two have been firing at each other in the last few weeks over the question of a referendum designed to change the country's governance structure.
In Mombasa, Ruto had said that the clamour for a constitutional change was the project of individuals who don't believe in losing elections, an indirect reference to Raila Odinga.
The gesture comes hardly weeks after the DP hit out at Raila Odinga for spreading propaganda in the United Kingdom.
