Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya hosted the Director General Prof Geoffrey Wakhungu over the forthcoming World Environmental Day.

They deliberated on issues pertaining the county's environment preservation. 

The governor disclosed that Kwale will host the international environmental day on June 5, which will be presided over by Deputy President William Ruto.

"As governor I support all efforts aimed at salvaging our environment ranging from getting rid of plastic waste which will be the theme of this year’s celebrations. I am also in support of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s directive that each county to plant 5 million trees," Mvurya said on Friday.

"I strongly believe this is a step towards the right direction and I urge all citizens to join in making this noble undertaking a success."
