Deputy President William Ruto has accused the opposition of insincerity in their push for the clean up of the voter's register.
Speaking in Mumias on Monday, Ruto observed that the ongoing court battles between the electoral body IEBC and the opposition on the auditing of the voters register could delay the August polls.
“I get mad when I see Cord leaders calling for cleaning of the voters register today when it was they who rushed to court and blocked the exercise after the IEBC awarded PriceWaterhouseCoopers the contract," he said.
"They need to make up their mind on whether the register should be cleaned up or not," he added.
The Deputy President, however, maintained that the next general elections must be held in August as planned.
“But I want to assure them that come rain or shine, we shall hold elections as stipulated in the constitution,” he noted.
