Deputy President William Ruto on Friday hailed Constable Casmel Ndege who passed on Saturday 13th January while travelling in the deputy president motorcade.

Constable Ndege was riding ahead of Mr Ruto when he lost control of his motorbike on Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi.

Ruto described Ndege as a person who went about his duties with diligence, precision and zeal.

According to his tweet on Friday, Ruto termed his motorcade outrider as industrious and disciplined officer who was devoted to his family.

“Constable Casmel Ndege went about his duties with diligence, precision and zeal. He was an industrious and disciplined officer. A devoted family man, his death is a terrible loss. Rest in Peace. Condoled with Ndege's family, Nairobi County,” read the tweet from the deputy president.

During the burial, Ruto eulogised the officer as a gallant, hardworking and dedicated professional.

The DP's motorcade was travelling to Githunguri, Kiambu County, where he attended a burial of the mother of Mount Kenya University Chairman Simon Gicharu.

Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta are usually escorted by police motorbikes when on official duties around the country.
