Deputy President William Ruto was on Thursday heckled in Narok South constituency as he urged locals to register as voters, reports the Daily Nation.
This comes as several top leaders among them President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga tours different parts of the country to mobilize their supporters to register in the ongoing mass listing of voters by IEBC.
The country’s second in command was addressing locals at Sogoo secondary where he told the crowd to acquire National Identity cards.
According to the residents, they were being asked to pay to be issued with IDs and also questioned the government’s development record in the region.
The crowd also refused to hear from local leaders among them Narok Women Representative Soipan Ole Kudate and Governor Samuel Ole Tunai.
Ruto, who later managed to calm the crowd, directed county commissioner Moffat Kangi to investigate the claims and take an action.
Also accompanying the DP were Kilgoris MP Gideon Konchellah and Narok East MP Lemanken Aramat.
