President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga [Photo/the-star.co.ke]With less than two months to the August 8th general elections, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has disclosed how President Uhuru Kenyatta managed to trounce Opposition leader Raila Odinga in the 2013 polls.According to the Chama Cha Mashinani party leader, President Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto used their indictment at the International Criminal Court (ICC) to seek sympathy votes from Kenyans."Voters elected President Uhuru and his deputy Ruto so they could sort the cases that faced them before ICC," Ruto said speaking during a rally at Kongasis in Elementaita, Nakuru County.DP Ruto's former ally warned the two Jubilee leaders against using the ICC as a campaign tool again, saying it will yeild no fruits.He said that now that the duo are free there are no more sympathies as they will be charged by the Kenyans on the basis of their performamce for period they have been in office.“Let them stop playing the ICC card with this election. Let them not try to raise emotions of the people. It will not work. It will not sell. The voters will elect leaders on merit and not emotions,” Ruto said as quoted by The Standard.The NASA co-principal also dismissed claims by a section of Jubilee leaders that the Opposition was plotting to revive the Hague cases against their party leaders."I have heard claims that NASA is plotting to re-introduce ICC cases against the President and his deputy. I want to tell them that ICC is a gone case. It was buried,” Ruto added.
