Deputy president William Ruto has affirmed that he will not at any given point forget his humble background.
According to the DP, his poor background has motivated him to reach his current status.
"People saw me when I entered politics. My family had no brand name like that of president Kenyatta and former premier Raila Odinga. I am proud of my parents and at no any given point I will disown the background I was brought up with", he said during a Friday interview with a local TV station.
He further took a swipe at Odinga, urging him to find an alternative way to defeat him instead of spreading propaganda.
"People are worried how the son of the peasant can rise to the position I am today. Anybody who wants to question how I obtained my wealth, should follow right procedures and not spread propaganda about me. I am ready to explain to such people if right procedures are followed," noted Ruto.
He claimed that Odinga was stilling hoping that he could run the government jointly.
"I am happy with the leadership of president Kenyatta. I enjoy being his deputy. Raila should forget about the parallel run government as it happened in the past," said Ruto.
