Deputy William Ruto has shunned rumours going round that he and President Uhuru Kenyatta are favouring certain leaders for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat come 2017.
This comes just a few weeks after Kiambu Governor William Kabogo openly stated that the people of Central would not vote for Ruto as president come 2022.
“You have the votes, therefore, you have the power to choose your leader. President Uhuru Kenyatta and I do not have any preferred candidate for Kiambu or any other county,” he said.
As he addressed the people of Ruiru town on Sunday, the deputy president also told off people who were accusing him of inciting ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba to leave the party.
The fight for the Kiambu governorship began after Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu declared interest in the seat.
Waititu’s interest led to a rivalry between the two leaders which has been ongoing for a while.
