Deputy President William Ruto has reiterated that the IEBC will not go, despite continued pressure for the opposition.

Ruto has further insisted that the Jubilee Party will have electoral laws changed, before the country goes to the polls on October 26.

Speaking in Isiolo town on Wednesday, Ruto said according to the Supreme Court ruling, there was no need to have the IEBC disbanded.

“That (the ruling of the court) is what we are going to do by reviewing the law and Parliament will do exactly that,’’ said the DP.

He also touched on the issue of transmission of results, saying the country needs to move from the reliance on the electronic system in transmission of results.

“The court ruled that if the electronic system of transmission (of votes) fails, then the manual system should be in place so that the votes of millions who cast their votes on August 8 are also counted,” he added as quoted by the Standard.

Ruto further said they accepted the Supreme Court ruling, even though they did not agree with it, and that is why they are campaigning again.

He was accompanied by Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti, senators Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo), Abshiro Halake (Kanu, nominated), Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa and MPs Hassan Odha (Isiolo North) and Abdi Koropu (Isiolo South) as well as Abdul Bahari.

President Kenyatta was scheduled to address the rally, but got other engagements.
