Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has now called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct free and fair election in the 2017 polls.
Speaking barely two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto toured Bomet, Ruto also asked the government to ensure equal treatment to all political aspirants.
"We expect that the electoral body would manage the elections very well. It must ensure there wouldn't be any form of rigging. That is the only way to ensure that security prevails in the country before and after next the elections," Ruto was quoted by The Standard.
"The government must also ensure that all political aspirants enjoy a level playing field. We would not accept a situation whereby state agencies such as the police are used to intimidate government critics," added the county boss.
The governor also asked the duo to restrain from insulting other leaders saying careless talk by the duo could brew chaos among Kenyans.
"I hope that 2017 will usher in a new dawn for the Jubilee leaders and that they would restrain themselves from making careless utterances," he said.
Ruto also exhibited courage saying he is confident he would beat the Jubilee fronted candidate, National Assembly deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso for the county top job.
