Deputy President William Ruto has said he will floor the opposition in the 2022 presidential race.

Ruto said the leaders aligned to NASA will wait longer to see State House even after President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second term, if he retains power in August.

He spoke in Nyeri during voting hunting tour where he was accompanied by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The lawmaker also took a swipe at NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga and his team for claiming that he is to blame for the failures of the current regime.

He further claimed that opposition is spreading mere propaganda as they seek to dethrone Jubilee from power.

“They keep saying they have no problem with the President but they have issues with me. That is propaganda. If they have a problem with me, let them wait for me in 2022 and I will beat them fairly and squarely,” said Mr Ruto.

On his part, President Uhuru accused leaders of the opposition for attempting to derail the August polls. The head of State said that he will not allow for the grand coalition government ahead of the August general elections.

If Ruto’s presidential dream is anything to go by, he is likely square it out with a number of candidates who have expressed interest in the nation’s top seat including Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba among others.
