The DP also opened the Kisii ASK show at Gusii Stadium.

"The DP will also launch the last mile electricity connection programme in Borabu constituency in Nyamira at the invitation of area MP Ben Momanyi," Ruto’s press secretary David Mugonyi had told the Star.

The visit comes barely two weeks after he met some Nyamira leaders at his Karen home in Nairobi.

Cord leader Raila Odinga also visited Nyamira County twice last month where he held a series of rallies.

He asked the community to remain in ODM saying the Jubilee administration had failed to fulfill its pre-election promises.

This is the first time a senior government official is opening the show in the region.

The DP has made more than 10 visits to Kisii and Nyamira counties which overwhelmingly voted for Cord leader Raila Odinga in the 2013 elections.

In Kisii, Raila had 236, 831 (68 per cent) while Uhuru garnered 95,596 ( 27 per cent).

Cord also won all parliamentary seats in Nyamira and the majority in Kisii.
