Deputy president William Ruto is the force behind ongoing intrigues over the disbandment of electoral body IEBC, reckons Kigoro MCA.
The electoral body is under immense pressure to quit office with the opposition (Cord) pushing for its removal while the government has insisted on using constitutional means to topple the commission.
But Mr Samuel Apoko has implicated Ruto over the stalemate saying he has politicised the matter by inciting President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Many Kenyans are of the opinion that reforms are carried out in the electoral commission before we go for polls but the issue has been politicised," said Apoko.
"There are some other grave issues like those that we must remain sober while addressing,” he said.
“I know President Kenyatta is a very incisive and moderate man but the DP is always bitter and ready for unnecessary competitions," said Apoko.
"He incites the President and has actually caused this standoff because a dialogue should have happened long ago,” he said.
He urged the DP to ‘lower’ his political engagements over the matter and allow round table talks for the sake of saving the country from unprecedented chaos.
“I understand that Kenyatta is always of the opinion that he engages the opposition but Ruto is never of that idea," said Apoko.
"Time has come for him to swallow his pride and pave the way for constructive dialogue,” he said in his latest political swipe to country’s top leadership.
