Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi is now calling for calm in Deputy President William Ruto's quarters, with regards to the changing political climate.
Speaking during a church service at the Mariakani Christian Center in Nairobi on Sunday, the opposition lawmaker noted that Ruto has grown worried over opposition leader Raila Odinga's moves lately, including his recent series of reconciliations.
He claimed that the series of handshakes between the former Prime Minister and other leaders deemed from the rival side are sending cold shivers down the DP's spine, noting that he is afraid that they could be a scheme to dismantle his 2022 presidential bid.
''The Deputy President is growing uneasy over Raila's recent handshakes with fellow leaders because he thinks that the move will undermine his 2022 ambitions for the top post,'' revealed Atandi.
This was a rejoinder to Ruto's recent claims of an ongoing plan to amend the constitution to allow for the entry of a parliamentary leadership system, including the creation of a powerful Prime Minister post.
Speaking in Kakamega county on Saturday, he, however, vowed to be in the front line in opposing the attempt.
''We already have enough leadership slots and I will personally not allow the ongoing plans to create more posts to house a few individuals with funds that should be actually used to better Kenyans lives,'' he said.
