Deputy president William Ruto issued a shoot to kill order, against bandits who have been attacking and killing residents in Baringo.

This is after the DP toured the volatile area, for a peace rally, Friday.

He expressed concern over the increased insecurity, saying Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) would be deployed in the affected areas to ensure security.

''The Kenya Police Reservists play a crucial role in complementing the efforts of the police in providing security and ensuring safety of the people. We will recruit more KPR to restore peace in Marakwet, Pokot and Baringo,'' he assured.

Ruto noted the government would continue to provide police with the requisite infrastructure to secure the country and protect the lives and property of all Kenyans.

''The government is deploying a rapid response team, armoured personnel carriers and more officers in Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Pokot counties to end cattle rustling and killings in the area,'' noted Ruto.

According to him, individuals and groups breaching peace and the rule of law will be arrested and prosecuted.

He visited Liter Police Post, and Mochongoi areas, where he interacted with officers and residents.
