An MCA in Nyamira County now wants Cord leader Raila Odinga to work with speed and secure the support of Deputy President William Ruto before the 2017 elections.
Mr Ruto who once served as one of the Pentagon members in the ODM in the run up to the 2007 elections, parted ways with the Orange party to form the United Republican Party which he used to ascend to second most powerful person in the country under the Jubilee coalition.
And Bogichora MCA Mr Buttah Omanga on Monday said Odinga’s chances would be boosted with Ruto as his running mate in 2017, with an agreement of supporting the Rift Valley kingpin in 2022.
“We have said this and again that Ruto is important in Raila Odinga’s 2017 quest and that is a fact. He commands a sizable population which can really help Odinga win the presidency with ease,” Omanga said.
“I know that it’s easier for Ruto to be supported by Raila in 2022 than President Kenyatta, and it is time the two reconciled if they both want to be presidents because their chances are dependent on each other,” added Mr Omanga.
He urged both parties to reduce the political fireworks since they may need each other in future for the sake of winning an election.
“It’s my appeal to the two leaders to reduce the political fireworks between them because they are unnecessary. They need to work together as a team. Time has come for Mr. Odinga to go for Ruto because he is the only politician at the moment that can help him ascended to presidency and equally Ruto needs in future,” Omanga said.
