Barely a week after fallout claims within Jubilee campaign team in Gusii emerged; Deputy President William Ruto called for an emergency crisis meeting at his Karen home on Monday.

At least 105 politicians across 20 wards from Nyamira attended the meeting, in which relationship with their Kisii counterparts was discussed at length.

The Jubilee campaign team has been rocked with infightings that have reportedly sabotaged the party’s activities across the region.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta had to cancel trip to Gusii region following disagreement between Kisii and Nyamira politicians.

Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati, who reportedly attended Monday’s meeting, had threatened to decamp from Jubilee following what he termed as ‘irreconcilable’ differences with their Kisii counterparts.

Even though details of the meeting remains scanty, Gesima MCA Ken Atuti says the meeting was meant to strategize on how to popularize the party within the region perceived to be pro-opposition.

“Our meeting was basically to discuss party primaries and a few emerging issues. I am glad that we dealt with them and we are good to go,” he said.

The Nyamira Assembly Deputy Minority Leader added: “A lot more was about strategies and I don’t think its right time to reveal.”

Understandably, Jubilee team is trying to come to terms due to emerging factions between politicians allied to Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
