The battle for the control of the vote rich Rift Valley region over the weekend took a new twist when Baringo Senator Gideon Moi told off Deputy President William Ruto over his calls on the KANU party to join the Jubilee coalition.
Moi said that the independence party will not be forced to join Jubilee as he does not share the same ideologies with Jubilee Coalition.
“We will not be forced to join other parties. We will not allow selfish individuals to sell the community for their own personal gain," he said.
The Baringo Senator added that it was a high time the Kalenjin community charts its own destiny so that they can benefit economically.
"We need to use our numbers to ascend to the presidency and not for self-centered interests as is happening now," he said.
The Baringo Senator said it was wrong for Ruto to pressurize him into joining a coalition has no interests of the residents at heart.
Moi's remarks come just a week after several parties folded up to join the Jubilee Party.
