Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday led leaders from the Kalenjin community in consoling the families of seven musicians who passed on in a road grisly road accident on Saturday.
The accident occurred at the Total area along Eldoret-Nakuru highway.
The DP took to twitter to pass his condolences.
“My heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Weldon Cheruiyot of Kenene International and his troupe following a tragic road crash last evening.” Ruto tweeted.
He also remembered families of the accident Victims at Moinonin area of Baringo.
“We also mourn with those who lost their loved ones in the accident at Moinonin,” he added.
Ruto said that he was concerned with the rising number of road accidents.
He urged motorist to exercise caution while on the road.
“Motorists should adhere to traffic rules especially during this festive season." Ruto said.
The Kenen international band was heading to Timboroa where they were scheduled to perform.
Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso said that the death of the musicians came as a shock to many.
“It is sad that we have lost talented young men and women in the prime of their youth. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the departed,” Laboso said.
She added that the county will take care of the funeral expenses.
