Deputy President William Ruto has called on the opposition NASA to be positive about desires of Kenyan.

This is after the outfit raised questions on about the speed at which the government imported maize from Mexico.

According to Ruto, the current government acted swiftly and that it had not handled a drought before.

“We had a similar drought in 2008 and we imported food, in 2009 we imported food, in 2011 we imported food. There is nothing new that we haven’t dealt with,” said Ruto.

Speaking in Bungoma on Sunday, Ruto said that despite the drought, the Jubilee administration had set history in agriculture productivity by recording the highest maize yield in 2015 at 42.5 million bags of maize and 639 metric tons of sugarcane in 2016.
